Taking a Break to Recharge Your Batteries Can Re-Energise & Re-Inspire (Slideshow Included)

OK peeps, just a reminder or in case you didn’t see Are You In Need of an E-Break? (I am). No-Phone Sundays, Anyone? I am having a self-imposed social media blackout for a while for health reasons, so please forgive me if I don’t respond to your comments for some time. I am not ignoring you – well, I am in a way, but you know what I mean! (I am writing this late September, 2016 in case you’re reading this much later!)

I am taking a break to recharge my batteries, get some osteopathy on my back and neck and give my poor overworked wrists and brain some much-need respite. I intend to rest, meditate, listen to relaxing music, occasionally an audiobook, and drink freshly extracted juice. I have let things slide lately, overworking my brain, body and especially my tired eyes, and not getting enough sleep. (George Clooney may or may not be helping me with my recuperation!).

When family and friends need help and attention, even just moral support, they are in your thoughts constantly, and when you are using the other half of your brain trying to help or entertain others via your iPad or computer (not to mention the small matter of a job), it is easy to neglect your own needs, then you get ill and are no longer able to provide the help and support to those you care about. So, take care of yourself and then you can take care of those around you.

It is important to slow down occasionally, breathe deeply and take a look around you. Really notice the world you live in, the people you live and work with. Admire the living, colourful flora and fauna. Ants are the bane of my life when they invade my kitchen, but outside I can sit and admire their work ethic and the finely-tilled soil they produce, it’s mesmerising and so relaxing! Similarly the tireless to-ing and fro-ing of the bees from flower to flower, the delicately-doomed butterflies dancing in the air, and at this time of year, the magic of the leaves changing colours and softly floating to the ground.

We are also approaching the season of colds and viruses here in the northern hemisphere, so taking care of yourself now could help strengthen your immune system and resistance. Being constantly stressed can leave you vulnerable. I am continuing to drink my Morning Glory Juice with lots of ginger and turmeric to help ward them off and to help reduce the inflammation in my spine. (See Juicy Winter Warmers – 5 Juices to Help Ward off Colds).

Be good, play nice, stay healthy and I’ll see you soon!

  1. I thought I’d commented and ‘liked’ this when you first posted it, but apparently not. It’s an age thing! From your recent posts the break clearly seems to have refreshed you. Good to have you back 🙂

    1. Thank you 😊 Just back a little bit. Had to send an email on the 8th day and was horrified to see 125 waiting in my inbox! Just catching up on the Reader and commenting at the moment. I have scheduled posts for about 3 weeks so I can ease myself back. Trying to be a little more disciplined.

      1. Lol! Well thank you for reading it again and taking the time to comment. I was afraid it was going to sink into oblivion because of my mistake. I did it right before I had to switch off for my treatment so had no time to redo it as a post.
